These days, many of us are familiar with the concept of lineman cleats. But what are they? Are they really necessary? And who should be using them?
Linemen have demanding jobs in football and therefore need cleats with proper support and cushioning to meet their needs.
As a lineman, you’re going to be doing a lot of pushing and pulling with your feet, which requires proper support and cushioning. You’ll also need to be able to move quickly in order to get into position before the snap. After the snap, you’ll have to change direction quickly in order to slow down an opponent or tackle him so that he doesn’t make it across the line of scrimmage. And finally, linemen often need to jump high and far—especially when they’re trying to block kicks or punts.
